Redundancy Law Questions Answered

If you're being made redundant in Ireland, you have several key rights: you must receive proper consultation, fair selection criteria must be applied, you're entitled to statutory redundancy payment if you have 2+ years service (2 weeks pay per year of service plus 1 extra week, capped at €600 per week), proper notice periods must be observed, and the redundancy must be a genuine redundancy situation. If any of these are not properly followed, you may have grounds for an unfair dismissal claim at the Workplace Relations Commission.
